0 Comments | Posted

The wonderful Hollie Rutledge will be leading a video editing workshop with UNC STV and the Department of Communication in Swain Hall 101A (in the annex of the building- door is next to the toll booth) from 7:30-9pm on March 28th. The workshop will provide a run through of shortcuts, effects, timing etc that lead to more efficient editing. They will be going over Adobe Premiere Pro CC and anyone is welcome to come! It probably will only last an hour, so come out to learn some cool things! It's great for students in COMM 130/230 and MEJO 585.

Calling all producers!

We are opening up the producer's application again for spring 2017! If you didn't get the chance to produce an STV show this semester, and you won't be too busy with a short film, apply to produce an STV show! It is the same application as the one sent out in August. It is a bit lengthy, but the questions are designed to help you figure out how you would execute your visions as a producer. Pitch us your show ideas and we'll be in touch!

No applications will be accepted after January 8th. All potential producers will be notified about their show by January 12th at the latest. Any UNC student can apply! If you submitted an application to produce an STV show in the fall that you would like to be considered for the spring, or would like a copy of your fall application to tweak for the spring, please email

Who we are looking for:

  • Students with new ideas for shows and an idea of how they’d make it happen

  • Students interested in reviving a show on hiatus or in the STV archives

  • Students interested in producing commercials, promo videos, and STV digital shorts

  • Students who want to film live productions or make a news-related show (especially one that involves reporting on local events)

  • Students who want to produce a sports show with the oldest living UNC basketball player and get press passes to UNC basketball games

Alumni Newsletter Coming Soon!

During the summer, we posted a form in the UNC STV Alumni Facebook group asking if alumni would be interested in getting a newsletter from STV. We haven't forgotten! As the Fall 2016 semester draws to a close, we are close to releasing the newsletter. If you'd like to get an email from STV, please fill out the form below! We have so much to tell you about what we've been up to these days. We will be sending the newsletter out in January. If you'd like a paper copy mailed to you in addition to or instead of an email newsletter, please email with your name and address. I am constantly amazed by the generosity and enthusiasm that alumni continue to have for STV. We love hearing from you and want to return the favor.

-Mariana Abou-Rizk, Station Manager 2016-2017
